Privacy policy

Last updated: October 2026

Letters of Demand is a service of Professional Edge Lawyers, a business name of Professional Edge Services Pty Ltd (“we”, “our”, “us”). We collect, use and disclose personal information in line with this policy and the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (the Privacy Act). Because Professional Edge Lawyers provides services regulated by the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006 (Cth) (the AML/CTF Act), the Privacy Act applies to us in relation to personal information we handle for the purposes of the AML/CTF Act (s 6E(1A)). We also comply with the obligations of confidentiality under the general law and the rules regulating the legal profession.

What we collect

When you contact us, we collect the details you give us, such as your name, email address, phone number and information about your matter or enquiry. When you send instructions for a letter of demand, we also collect the details you give us about the person or business you say owes you money, and the documents you upload, such as contracts, quotes, invoices, messages and bank records. If we act for you, we collect the information we need to provide legal services. Because of the nature of legal services, we cannot generally deal with people who do not identify themselves.

How we collect it

We collect personal information directly from you, including through the forms on this website, by email and by phone. With your consent, we may also collect information from your other advisers or from other parties to your matter.

Conflict check

Before we act, we check that we do not already act for the person or business you name, or for anyone else whose interests conflict with yours. We use the names you give us for that check.

How we use and disclose it

We use your information to respond to your enquiry and, if we act for you, to provide legal services, including sending a demand to the person or business you name. In the course of a matter we may disclose information to the other party, barristers, courts, tribunals, other parties’ lawyers and service providers we use to run the practice, in accordance with our professional duties. We may disclose information where the law requires it.

Where it is stored

Enquiries and instructions sent through this website are emailed to our practice mailbox. The forms and any documents you upload are also kept in this website’s form records, which only the firm can access, for 12 months. They are then deleted automatically. Documents you upload go only to the firm. We use software and IT services from providers such as Microsoft and Google, whose servers may be in Australia or overseas. We take reasonable steps to ensure that overseas recipients handle personal information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.

Website analytics

This website uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors use it, such as the pages visited and the site that referred you. Google Analytics uses cookies. You can opt out by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or by blocking cookies in your browser.

Access and correction

Subject to the Australian Privacy Principles, you can ask for access to the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it. Contact our privacy officer at info@lettersofdemand.com.au or 435 Nepean Highway, Frankston VIC 3199.

Complaints

If you have a complaint about how we have handled your personal information, contact our privacy officer. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Victorian Legal Services Board and Commissioner, which deals with complaints about lawyers, including complaints about confidentiality. If your complaint concerns personal information we collect or hold for the purposes of the AML/CTF Act, you can also contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at www.oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
